Exult in Glory!

Share!

A favorite part of Easter worship, for me, was to begin the service with the words from the “Exultet.” I would speak (shout) them from the back of the sanctuary before the procession of choirs and worship leaders. (Shout out to Lorain Giles for helping me find this text.)

These words of exaltation from the order of worship for the Great Vigil of Easter say it all:

Rejoice, heavenly powers!
Sing, choirs of angels!
Jesus Christ, our light, is risen!
Sound the trumpet of salvation!

Rejoice, O earth, in shining splendor,
Radiant in the brightness of your Sovereign!
Christ has conquered! Glory fills you!
Night vanishes for ever!

Rejoice, O servant church! Exult in glory!
The risen Savior shines upon you!
Let this place resound with joy,
Echoing the mighty song of all God’s people!

And in case you missed it in my last post, here’s the link, again, to a unique and wonderful version of Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus,” featuring the Catalan Baroque Orchestra and the Barcelona Ars Nova Choir in the Gothic Basilica of St. Mary of the Sea Barcelona (thanks to Austin Chenault for this). A most blessed Easter to you all!
